The rules for the ladder are as follows:

Any challenges to another member are allowed within 5 places, with the following exception:

– Once a member has challenged three members who are ranked higher than them, they must either be challenged by a member lower than them, or wait three business days before challenging another higher-ranked member.
– You are expected to try and play a challenge match within three business days, or at the next club meeting, if possible, whichever is sooner.
– When the lower-placed member wins, they trade places. If they lose, there is no change. If there is a draw in the first match, the lower-placed member has a right to a rematch (see below).

Additionally:

– To determine the colour (White or Black ), either just decide between yourselves, or hide a white and black piece and have your opponent choose one.
– It’s not required, but you’re more than welcome to use the Chess Club’s clock–just ask me and I’ll give it to you.
– Also, if you need a chess board, just ask me; the Chess Club has many specifically to loan out to the members.
– If there is a draw, then the loser is entitled to ONE rematch under similar conditions (choose the colour in the same way).

All rules for the ladder are taken from the Chess Club Constitution and By-laws:
